Not really but the Pope will be getting a new neighbor with an LDS temple in Rome. That will be an interesting rollout. Now the Catholic Church can continue to hinder the work for the dead in its own backyard.

In addition, President Monson announced four more temples in:

The Church’s Public Affairs office held an online press conference today, fielding questions from reporters by phone and email .

It is part of a new effort that includes visits by LDS apostles to newspaper editorial boards for on-the-record presentations about Mormon beliefs and practices . . . If LDS leaders deem the half-hour question-and-answer format successful, they may get LDS authorities to participate in the future.

A new comprehensive “Welfare Complex” is being built in Layton, UT and will serve as a model for future welfare centers. The welfare complex will house various parts of the Church’s welfare system: Deseret Industries, Distribution Services, Family Services, LDS Employment, Bishop’s Storehouse, Family Home Storage Center and a Humanitarian Service Room.

Interesting history of DI:

Deseret Industries was born during the post-Depression era when the LDS Church sent two officials to Los Angeles in 1938 to study Goodwill Industries and determine how the church could create similar employment opportunities through a thrift-store business.
