The Laffer Curve, Lamanite taxation and why Harry Reid should re-read the Book of Mosiah

The Laffer Curve, Lamanite taxation and why Harry Reid should re-read the Book of Mosiah.

Clearly Mr. Reid has never made it through the “Isaiah chapters.”

As someone said a few weeks ago, yeah, we get it, you don’t like Harry Reid.

However, as much as i’d like to be able to get some guidance on taxation from the Mormon canon, i can’t find it in there. Maybe in the bit the link quotes i can see why it would be objectionable to pay taxes and not get any direct or indirect benefits from them, but i don’t see anything that says that supply-side economics is approved by the Divine.

(Well, that and the fact that the Laffer Curve doesn’t really work–but that goes beyond the bounds of this blog.)

David,

I don’t know if you read the blog I linked to but I was just briefly summarizing that post.

And I think there is something to be said about the BoM’s comments on taxation.

But go ahead and read that post first and comment there. I was just linking to it.

Abd yes, I am not a big fan of Sen. Reid. ;-)

Um, I did read it.

Since the description you gave wasn’t the title of the original post, i figured that that was your take-away message–and i was also reacting to the first comment, which seems to have done the same thing.

And I thought the FAIR people were hacks before.

Chris -

Someone at FAIR also posted “I am a Democrat” last month.

They do have a weird mix of politics with apologetics (that’s why I thought the above post was so interesting), but there is some balance.

I was sort of joking. The democrat post was a bit simple actually. I guess not everyone can be Montogomery County bred political geniuses.

Chris,

That is true. One can only wish.
