Romney leaves it open for 2012

Making the dramatic announcement at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference at a Washington hotel, Romney clearly hoped to preserve the goodwill of his party for another possible bid in 2012. He intends to run again in four years, according to a senior member of his inner circle.

    After hearing his CPAC speech, instead of sicking back and laughing at Mitt like I did this cycle, I will actively oppose him. I might start saving up now. How can a northeast moderate become a right-wing zealot?

    Either way, he will be a non-factor in 2012. We do not seem to give people second chances much at that level. Many are pointing to Reagan in 1976. While he has become like Reagan in all the bad ways, presidential election politics has changed a lot since my birth (1976).
