The MRC does a noble service highlighting liberal bias in mainstream media.  It’s 2007 awards for worst reporting is so-so, in part because a lof of their top winners aren’t “true” journalists.  But their quote of the year is a great example of the media’s devotion to finding the dark lining in a silver cloud:

“As violence falls in Iraq, cemetery workers feel the pinch”

You mean liberal bias like the Washington Post’s editorial page’s steady support for the war in Iraq, until it was long, long, long past obvious there were problems with it?

Liberal or conservative bias is in the eye of the beholder—it’s the same phenomenon as the well-attested and heavily-researched phenomenon that your favorite sports team is always shortchanged by the refs (no matter what that team happens to be).

Just sayin’, that’s all.

Dave-

You are right that the editorial page has been impressively clear-minded in realizing that we need to win in Iraq. But the Front Page has been quite different.

I agree that bias is in the eyes of the beholder, and the MRC goes overboard, as any cog in the grieveance industry will do. Just like the Media Matters.

But I see an undeniable liberal bias that pervades the mainstream media.
