Tom Udall has reversed himself and has announced his campaign for the New Mexico senate seat . Strangely, this Associated Press article makes a big deal that Tom and his cousin, Mark Udall from Colorado, are both running for Senate but overlooks another cousin. Gordon Smith will be defending his Senate seat in Oregon.
All three are considered to have very good chance of winning so the next Senate may have three cousins in it. If so, Tom Udall would join Harry Reid as a LDS Senate Democrat.

I knew that all three are cousins and that all three are running for the Senate in 08. However, I seem to have failed to connect the two things.
Gordon Smith is viewed vunerable by the fact that he is a Republican in Oregon at a time when Oregon is heavily opposed to the national GOP. He is a very thoughful moderate and is the only Republican that I will be rooting for this coming election season. As you knew, Gordon’s family has roots in the DC area.
Is Mark LDS? I am not sure.

(Sorry I didn’t respond earlier. My comment notification was trappped in my spam collector. Go figure.)
Smith has been viewed as vulnerable but he’s definitely tacked leftward, especially on the war and his polling seems to have benefited from that.
As far as I can tell, Mark does not consider himself as LDS. His offical information lists his religion as “not affiliated” whereas his cousins list themselves as LDS.
