Kerry Wrong For Mormons appears to be an official GOP web site - that as you may guess it - wants Mormons to vote for President Bush. This may be part of the Bush campaign strategy to reach out to churches, which has received considerable criticism. This effort seems to be targeted to Mormons in name only as it addresses issues that will appeal to any brand of traditional social conservatives, such as marriage, abortion, etc.
I found this site thanks to The Rock River 77, which mentions the site as a new tool of a “LDS Outreach program” (my first thought this was an evangelical proselytizing mission). Brad asks why is the Bush campaign reaching out to Mormons whose voting track record has strongly leaned Republican. I think this modest effort shows that they are not taking anything for granted.
The Kerry campaign doesn’t seem to be taking the traditionally staunch Democratic Montgomery County, Maryland for granted. Its been heartening to see Kerry campaigners working harder than I’ve seen Democrats work before. They seem to be at least a little bit worried in an area that is typically a very safe Democratic stronghold. And they seem to have some cause, a poll out today has President Bush and Senator Kerry tied at 48% in the state of Maryland, which is probably an anomaly, but interesting nonetheless.

On a whim, I tried http://www.kerrywrongforcatholics.com and it worked also. Content largely the same, but some specific Vatican-referenced quotes. I didn’t try the others, but it looks like someone set up multiple KerryWrongFor_____ sites.

Good catch. I wish I thought of trying that.
I just did http://www.kerryiswrongforevangelicals.com and that worked as well and it looks identical to the mormon site.

I guess he’s not wrong for Jews and Muslims though.

One more thing. At least the person who set up the websites considers us Christian. That’s a plus.

Kim, good point that they consider us Christian. Although that would be prudent if they wanted to attract our vote.
I imagine they have a more sophiticated tact to approaching the Jewish and Muslim vote than a slapdash, generic website. Who knows?

Does the Kerry camp have anything like this? I hope not, but I just wonder if they are trying to use the religion angle at all.

The LDS outreach effort is headed by Bart Marcois, a former PDAS at Dept. of Energy, who is a volunteer coordinator for the RNC. He has the RNC actively aware that cuz the LDS are reliably Republican, they make a great resource for foot soldiers, kinda like a GOP ‘labor’ union.

Here at BYU, they’ve allocated some hundred(s) thousand dollars to using students as footsoldiers in other states. You’ll remember that Karl Rove is convinced that millions of evangelicals didn’t turn out in 2000, nearly costing Bush the election. The Bush campaign considers us to be in the same category, I think, and wants to make sure that we turn out in other states where our presence is important (Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and New Mexico are particularly notable).
